Prepping the car for paint

Its now been 3 days since we started prepping the car. Its a much bigger task than i'd thought it would be (and I knew it would be time consuming) but we're making progress.

A friend whose name is also James is helping paint it given thats his actual profession. I'm just a jockey being told what to do learning the process. So far the exterior panels bar the doors and front guards have all been primed. That stuff is like concrete and I can see its going to be a massive job to sand.

I've spent 3-4 hours so far just sanding the interior. The scratches put in the metal from us removing sound deadening is taking ages to remove.

We'll soldier on though... Friday night will be finishing off prepping the interior for it to be primed on the weekend.

Hoping to then paint the interior the following weekend.

Chassis now nearly finished. Its only days away from paint prep

Its been a few weeks now of really hard work getting the chassis prepped.

There is a few things here i'll keep to myself but suffice to say the car should now be pretty stiff from the front to the back. There is a few more opportunities to strengthen the front end but that will have to wait till the engine comes out.

Here is a teaser shot.

Car is getting there!

Roll cage is now complete and the car is back ready for some more chassis modifications and then off to be painted.

Here is a video of us testing it out post roll cage before it gets pulled apart again.

Wheel fitment and preparation for roll cage

Car is now back and working out which wheels were going to fit best was the next challenge. Then it was time to prepare for roll cage and the car being engineered.

Below is CE28N's in 18x10.5 +18 with a 15mm spacer. Looks pretty tough I reckon.

Dusted the car down for a couple of shots.

Interior is now getting there and looking pretty clean.

Pictures don't do the widebody justice. This sort of captures how wide the car looks.

Widebody is complete!

After 5 weeks the car is now looking like a car again.

This pic is with a 25mm spacer. So effectively 18x10 -13. probably poking a bit far to clear the guard.

At its new temporary home. This is with 18x10 +12 with a 8mm spacer. So effectively  +6

Nismo Z Tune 001 - I couldn't believe my eyes

When I first saw it I thought it was just a ricer with no originality... Turns out to be a real Z tune. Not only that its No. 001!!!

More progress on widebody

Been a few delays with other jobs but its not far away now. Should be picking the car up before the weekend.

Blending into the a pillar looks top notch.

Still a bit of work to do sanding in the fuel filler cap.
